MTG 2026 Set Release Schedule (Every Magic Set & Date)
Every Magic: The Gathering 2026 set and its scheduled release date, which are Universes Beyond crossovers, and how to track and value the cards.
In this guide
Magic: The Gathering moves fast, and 2026 is busier than usual. If you build decks, collect, or just want to plan your spending, knowing what is coming and roughly when is the difference between buying smart and buying on impulse. Here is the 2026 Magic set lineup as announced, with honest caveats.
One note first: Wizards of the Coast sets these dates and can move them. Treat every date as scheduled, not guaranteed, and confirm on the official Magic site before you preorder or plan around a release.
2026 has seven sets
2026 is a slightly heavier year than normal, with seven releases (the cadence is expected to ease back afterward). They split into two kinds: in-universe Magic sets and Universes Beyond crossovers (more on those below).
Released earlier in 2026:
- Lorwyn Eclipsed — scheduled for late January, a return to the beloved Lorwyn world.
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — a Universes Beyond crossover, early February.
- Secrets of Strixhaven — late April, back to Magic's magical university.
Later in 2026:
- Marvel Super Heroes — scheduled for late June, a Universes Beyond crossover and a major one.
- The Hobbit — mid-August, a Universes Beyond set following Magic's earlier Middle-earth crossover.
- Reality Fracture — early October, an in-universe set.
- Star Trek — the final crossover of the year.
For the full picture on the crossovers specifically, see MTG Universes Beyond in 2026.
In-universe vs Universes Beyond
Magic's own worlds (Lorwyn, Strixhaven, and the new Reality Fracture) sit alongside Universes Beyond, which brings outside franchises into Magic's rules. In 2026 that means Ninja Turtles, Marvel, The Hobbit, and Star Trek. Crossovers tend to draw demand from fans of both Magic and the source franchise, which can affect how chase cards are priced. Always confirm a set's format legality on the official rules pages, since policies on where Universes Beyond cards are playable have shifted over time.
What it means for collectors
- More sets means more product. A heavy release year spreads attention and spending; pick the sets that matter to you rather than chasing everything.
- Crossovers can run hot. Big-name crossovers (Marvel especially) often see strong launch demand. As always, presale prices are not settled prices.
- Singles vs sealed still applies. If you want specific cards, buying singles is usually cheaper and more certain than opening packs. Our guide on how to value Magic cards helps you check what a card is actually worth.
Track and value your Magic cards
As the year's sets land, a tracked collection keeps your decks, want-list, and spares organised. Foilio reads live Magic card data from open, attributed sources (Scryfall), so you can value your collection any time as prices move, honestly and transparently, never as financial advice. For the older cards whose value is structural, our MTG Reserved List explainer is worth a read, and the Magic hub and most valuable Magic cards round out the picture.
The bottom line
Seven sets, four of them crossovers, make 2026 a standout Magic year. Use the schedule to plan, check format legality on the official source, value before you buy, and keep your collection current so each release is an opportunity rather than a scramble.
