Cross-market radar

Where Magic cards are cheaper right now.

A card does not have one price. It has a US price on TCGplayer and an EU price on Cardmarket, and they rarely match. This is the believable end of that gap: Magic cards currently priced at least 25% lower in one market, at the live exchange rate.

These are independent reference estimates, not live listings and not arbitrage advice. Fees, VAT, shipping, condition and the FX spread routinely erase a paper gap. Use it to see where a card is currently listed lower, then verify the live listing yourself.

Questions, answered

Are Magic cards cheaper in the US or in Europe?+

It is card by card, there is no single answer. Of 4,906 Magic cards priced in both markets, 1,856 show a believable gap of 25% or more, and of those 1,367 are cheaper in Europe (Cardmarket) while 489 are cheaper in the US (TCGplayer). The median gap is 33%. The right answer for any single card is to check both, which is exactly what this page and the Foilio market view do.

Is this an arbitrage tool? Can I make money from these gaps?+

No, and we do not present it that way. These are independent reference estimates (one number per market), not live seller listings. Import VAT, marketplace and payment fees, cross-border shipping, card condition and the FX spread routinely erase a paper gap, and buying to resell across borders has real friction. Treat a gap as a signal of where a card is currently listed lower, then verify the actual live listing yourself. Nothing here is financial advice.

Why do the US and EU prices differ so much?+

They are two separate marketplaces with separate supply and demand: TCGplayer is US-centric, Cardmarket is Europe-centric. Add a moving exchange rate, uneven sealed-product distribution and regionally scarce sets (Portal Three Kingdoms, for example, is far cheaper in Europe than the US) and the same card lands at two different numbers.

How is this measured, and how current is it?+

Every Magic card with both a TCGplayer USD and a Cardmarket EUR reference price via the open Scryfall API, with EUR converted to USD at the live ECB reference rate (1.143, from frankfurter.app). We keep only believable gaps: the cheaper side must be at least $3 and the gap between roughly 25% and 66%, because extreme single-card gaps are usually printing or condition mismatches between the two catalogs rather than a real difference. Reference prices, not sale records. Valued 2026-07-13.
