Open data

Price movements, open, not gatekept

No single marketplace should decide which games are on the map or wall its price data behind a closed API. So Foilio publishes its own daily price-movement index in the open, per game, as a public dataset and a free API. We publish a normalized index (base 100) and percent changes, how prices move, computed by us, not a third party's absolute quotes. Where we do not log a game yet, we say so plainly. We never invent a number.

Currently publishing an open movement index for Pokémon and Magic across 1,350 card series in the latest snapshot.

Look up any card's price-movement index

Pulled live from the same public API anyone can call. Pick a card to chart the normalized index (base 100) we have logged.

Movement index only, base 100 at each card's first logged day. No absolute prices, that is the point.

No open history logged for this game yet. We publish it the moment we start recording, never a guessed number.

Every game, listed equally

Big or indie, on a marketplace or frozen out of one, every game gets a row here. Logged games show their open history; the rest are marked honestly and still get a where-to-buy view.

A free, open API

Cardmarket's API is closed to new applicants. Ours is open, CORS-enabled, and free to use with attribution. It serves Foilio's own derived movement index (base 100) and percent changes, never a third party's absolute quote, so nobody can wall it off.

Why this exists

Fees and closed APIs let one marketplace decide whose prices are visible and whose game gets listed at all. Open, first-party history nobody can gatekeep is the counterweight. It grows every day, it is free, and it treats every game the same. See where to buy any card across venues on all venues.

Questions, answered

What is the Open Price Index?+

It is a daily price-movement index Foilio computes and publishes openly for anyone to browse or pull. Each card series is normalized to base 100 at its first logged day, so it shows how the price has MOVED over time, plus percent changes. Cardmarket's API is closed to new applicants and its data is walled off; our answer is an open, reusable movement index, per game, as a public dataset and a free API.

Which games are covered?+

We publish an open movement index for the games we log every day (Pokemon and Magic today), and we list every other game honestly as not logged yet rather than showing a made up number. As we start logging more games, they light up here automatically.

Is this the actual price of a card?+

No, and that is deliberate. We publish a normalized movement index (base 100) and percent changes, computed by Foilio from multiple public reference sources and logged forward daily. It shows the shape and direction of a card's price over time, not an absolute quote. It is not sold-price data and not financial advice; always confirm the exact printing, condition and language before you trade.

Can I use this data in my own project?+

Yes, freely, under CC BY 4.0 with attribution to foilio.net. The index values are computed by Foilio, so the derived dataset is genuinely ours to open up; the underlying reference prices remain subject to their originators' terms. That is the whole point: an open movement index nobody can wall off.

Foilio Open Price Index. This dataset publishes Foilio's own derived price-movement index (normalized to base 100 at each series' first logged day) and period percent-changes, computed by Foilio from multiple public reference sources and logged forward daily. It is a transformative work: it does NOT publish any third party's absolute price quotes. Index values are computed by Foilio; the underlying reference prices remain subject to their originators' terms. Free to reuse, share and adapt with attribution to foilio.net. Where a game is not logged yet, we say so rather than invent a number.
