How box EV works
A booster box's “expected value” is what the cards inside are worth on average. We take every card in the set, average the Cardmarket trend price within each rarity, then apply how often each rarity shows up per pack. Sum that across all 36 packs and you get the estimated value of the singles a box produces.
Two honesty notes that matter. First, pull rates aren't officially published by Pokémon, every EV tool uses community-aggregated samples, and so do we, clearly labelled. Second, EV is an average: roughly 70% of boxes land near it, ~15% run hot and ~15% run cold. A single box is a gamble; EV just tells you the long-run mean.

We average the Cardmarket EUR trend price of every card within each rarity, apply a disclosed community pull-rate model per pack, and sum across all 36 packs. It's the estimated value of the singles a box produces, an average across thousands of boxes, not a guarantee for one.
Is opening a booster box worth it?+
Only if you pay under the box's break-even price (the singles EV). Most modern boxes sit slightly negative-EV at retail, the value is the gamble and the chase cards. The RIP / TOSS-UP / DON'T-RIP verdict compares the singles EV to the price you enter.
