Are UniVersus Cards Worth Money? The Chrome Rare Owns Every Franchise

UniVersus spans a dozen franchises under one rarity system, and the serial-numbered Chrome Rare tier medians $302, about 735× the typical card, topped by a $750 King Ghidorah.

In this guide

UniVersus is a dozen fandoms sharing one card game: Godzilla, My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, Critical Role, Cowboy Bebop, Street Fighter, Yu Yu Hakusho, Trigun and more, all fighting under the same rules and the same rarity system. Which makes it the perfect experiment: when every franchise prints the same tiers, what actually sets the price?

The printed rarity barely moves value

Across 5,278 priced UniVersus singles in 59 sets, the median card trades at $0.41 and 65% sit under $1, and the ordinary rarity ladder does very little to change that. The experiment's full result is in the UniVersus crossover premium study.

The Chrome Rare is the answer

The premium lives almost entirely in one treatment: the serial-numbered Chrome Rare, a tier of just 20 cards, which medians $301.56, about 735x the typical card. And the franchise question has a clear winner too: Godzilla owns the very top, with King Ghidorah, Three-Headed Monster as a Chrome Rare around $750.

Why the serial number wins

A serial-numbered card has scarcity you can read off its face, and stamped on a beloved franchise icon it becomes the purest form of scarce plus wanted, the same force behind the Godzilla Card Game's ++ parallels and Elestrals' serialized SRs. The rarity symbol sets the pack odds; the serial number sets the price.

How to value your UniVersus cards

  1. Hunt Chrome Rares first; with only 20 in the game, each is a three-figure conversation.
  2. Pin the exact printing and franchise, and filter to Near Mint or better.
  3. Average the four lowest current offers for that exact printing.
