Are WoW TCG Cards Worth Anything? Check for Loot Cards First
The World of Warcraft TCG ended in 2013 and most of its cards trade near a median $0.33. The 18 scratch-off loot cards are the exception, topped by a $9,000 Spectral Tiger.

The most valuable card the World of Warcraft TCG ever printed is not really valuable as a card. It is valuable as a key: a scratch-off code that unlocks a translucent Spectral Tiger mount inside the video game. If a WoW binder from 2008 just surfaced in your attic, that is the first and almost the only thing worth checking for.
Most of the game is bulk
The game ran from 2006 to 2013 and then stopped. Across 2,270 priced singles, the 2,252 ordinary gameplay cards median just $0.33, and the most expensive gameplay card in the entire game tops out at $67. Even the famous heroes cap around $35. The 18 loot cards are the market
The game shipped 18 loot cards: physical cards carrying a scratch-off code redeemable for a cosmetic mount, pet, or toy in World of Warcraft. Those 18 cards median $11.09, about 34x a typical gameplay card, and the top of the list is in a different universe:
- Spectral Tiger, the mount code, around $8,999.99
- Landro's Gift, around $97.99
- Fortune Telling, around $59.99
- Thunderhead Hippogryph, another mount, around $58.92
One dead game, and its entire top end is the 18 cards that were never about the card game at all.
The code is the value
A loot card is priced for its unredeemed code, so check the scratch-off panel before anything else: a scratched or redeemed card has lost the thing the market pays for. This is the cleanest example anywhere in the hobby of value living outside the game, and it is why the loot list barely moved when the game itself shut down.
How to value your WoW TCG cards
- Sort loot cards from gameplay cards first. The full list of 18 makes that a five-minute job.
- For a loot card, confirm the code panel is intact, then average the four lowest current offers.
- For everything else, temper expectations: the $0.33 median is the honest baseline.
