Are Star Wars Unlimited Cards Worth Money? The Cheap Rarity Holds the Chase
In Star Wars Unlimited the priciest leader in the game is printed at Common: Boba Fett at $247.75. Chase printings of Common leaders median $79.25, above Rares at $68.57.
In this guide
Every collector learns the same reflex in their first game: sort the commons into the bulk box and keep the rares. Star Wars Unlimited is the game where that reflex throws away the chase. The single priciest leader card in the entire game is printed at Common, and on the collectible top end, Common leaders out-price Rare ones.
Every leader is printed three ways
Each leader in Star Wars Unlimited exists as a base version, a hyperspace foil, and a short-printed showcase treatment. The showcase is the collectible ceiling, and which ceiling a leader reaches has almost nothing to do with the rarity symbol. We took the priciest printing of all 90 leaders across the game's 5 released sets; the numbers below are from that pull, and the full tables are in the Star Wars Unlimited rarity study.
Commons out-price Rares
Across 40 Common leaders and 40 Rare leaders, the median chase printing of a Common leader is $79.25, higher than the $68.57 median for Rare leaders. It is not a fluke of one hot card either: 53% of Common leaders beat the Rare median outright, and the 10 special-rarity leaders median $91.45. The rarity letter tells you how often the base card shows up in a pack; it does not price the showcase.
The chase SWU cards
The top of the market is Boba Fett, Collecting the Bounty, at about $247.75, a Common. Meanwhile the cheapest Rare leader, Admiral Holdo, We're Not Alone, sits at $25.24, roughly a tenth of that. A Common at ten times a Rare is the whole story of this market in one pair of cards.
Why the letter lies here
The showcase printing is scarce, and demand follows the character on the card, not the symbol in its corner. Boba Fett is Boba Fett. It is the same lesson the data keeps teaching across games: the treatment and the demand for the art set the price, exactly as with the Gundam +/++ parallels and the Lorcana Enchanted premium.
How to value your SWU cards
- Pin the exact printing: base, hyperspace foil, or showcase. That distinction, plus the character, is most of the value.
- Filter to Near Mint or better.
- Average the four lowest current offers for that exact printing.
