Are Sorcery: Contested Realm Cards Worth Money? The Game With No Bulk
Sorcery: Contested Realm has the highest floor we have measured: only 37% of cards trade under $1, an Ordinary medians $0.73, and the Unique tier medians $24. Here is why.
In this guide
In most card games the honest answer to "is my binder worth anything" is that two thirds of it is bulk. Sorcery: Contested Realm is the exception in our data: it is the card game with almost no bulk, where even the lowest rarity holds real value and the question is not whether your cards are worth something, but how much.
The highest floor we have measured
Across 2,902 priced Sorcery singles in 7 sets, only 37% trade under $1. For scale, the equivalent share is 67-91% in Magic, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. Even an Ordinary, the base rarity, medians $0.73, and an Elite medians $3.60. Small print runs and premium positioning keep the whole game valuable. The tier data is in the Sorcery rarity ladder study.
The Unique tier is the chase
The top rarity, the Unique, medians $24.22, about 20x the typical card and 6.7x the Elite below it. And the ceiling is genuinely high: the priciest card in the game is a foil Avatar of Water around $2,500, and the top Unique, a foil Ruler of Thul, trades near $1,726.
Why Sorcery holds value
The game was printed in deliberately small runs for a dedicated audience, so scarcity starts at the bottom of the ladder instead of being reserved for the top. Contrast it with Force of Will, the flattest market we have measured: Sorcery is the opposite experiment, a game where the floor itself was engineered high.
How to value your Sorcery cards
- Check the rarity and the finish; a foil Unique is the jackpot combination.
- Pin the exact printing and filter to Near Mint or better.
- Average the four lowest current offers for that exact printing.
