Across 3,955 Rainbow Foil pairs, the Rainbow medians 2.02x its non-foil, a modest bump. Across 409 Cold Foil pairs, the Cold Foil medians 8.31x, and 42% of Cold Foils run 10x or more. What that means in dollars
The median plain card in the pair set trades at $0.16, the median Rainbow Foil at $0.35, and the median Cold Foil at $2.01. At the top the gap goes vertical: Refraction Bolters trades around $0.38 plain and $289.99 in Cold Foil, a 763x same-card gap.
Why Cold Foil rules
Cold Foils are the short-printed cosmetic chase of the game, pulled rarely and hunted specifically, while Rainbow Foils are the everyday foil that most slots can produce. Scarce plus wanted beats shiny, the same lesson as the foil vs non-foil comparison across games: not all foils are one market.
