How to Tell If a Flesh and Blood Card Is Rare: The Icon at the Lower Left
A Flesh and Blood card shows its rarity as a small icon at the lower left. Learn the C, R, S, M and L icons, the Fabled diamond and the Marvel triangle.
In this guide
Check the small print along the bottom of the card, at the far left. The icon before the language and card code is the rarity: a letter in a coloured circle for most tiers, a diamond for Fabled and a purple triangle for a Marvel.
This page reads the mark. For what the foils and chase cards earn, read are Flesh and Blood cards worth money.
Where is the rarity icon?
We read card images from the publisher's own card database on 3 November 2026. Each carries the same line along the bottom edge: rarity icon, language, card code, artist.
| Example | Icon we saw | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
| OMN195 | C in a grey circle | Common |
| OMN014 | R in a blue circle | Rare |
| SUP132 | S in a purple circle | Super Rare |
| OMN004 | M in a red circle | Majestic |
| CRU097 in the icon image | L in an orange circle | Legendary |
| CRU000 in the icon image | Small diamond | Fabled |
| IAR145 | Purple triangle | Marvel |
| OMN049 | B in a grey circle | Basic, by our reading |
The icon image comes from the publisher's 2020 Crucible of War article, which calls these its "updated rarity icons". It shows them without naming each one.
So matching a letter to a tier is our reading, and it is a safe one: the letters follow the tier names, and a third-party database lists SUP132 as Super Rare. The publisher itself refers to "the fabled symbol" when it describes the Marvel triangle as a half diamond.

What each tier means
The clearest official list we found is a set page. The Omens of the Third Age page gives this English breakdown, labelled as estimates.
| Tier | Cards in the set | Rate given |
|---|---|---|
| Fabled | 1 | Not stated in the main list |
| Legendary | 5 | Not stated in the main list |
| Majestic | 37 | 15 at 1 per 8 packs, 22 at 1 per 7 packs |
| Rare | 60 | 1.88 per pack |
| Common | 134 | 11 per pack |
| Basic | 14 | 1.8 per pack |
Its foil list adds Legendary at 1 per 96 packs and writes Fabled as "1 per ??? packs". The page warns that its rates are approximate averages across the whole production, not guaranteed in any pack, display or case.
Numbers and tiers change by set. Super Slam, from September 2025, lists 40 Super Rares, a tier Omens does not have, so open the page for your own set first.
What is a Marvel?
The publisher introduced the Marvel symbol with Uprising and described it as a purple triangle, or a half diamond in reference to the Fabled symbol.
It says Marvels are used on high tier alternate versions, and that each one is much rarer than a normal foil of its base rarity. The frequency of each Marvel card varies.
Marvels can also turn up with another set's code. The Omens page says that set holds Marvel cards from Usurp the Shadow Throne, identified by the IAR code.
So an IAR card pulled from Omens is not a mistake, and the code alone will not tell you which pack it came from.
Traps veterans will catch you on
Rarity is not the foil. The Omens page lists OMN014 as both Rainbow Foil and Regular, and OMN004 as both Cold Foil and Regular.
The same page's Cold Foil list includes Commons and Majestics. So the icon and the finish answer different questions.
Legendary is also a keyword. The publisher explains that a card can have the keyword Legendary, which means you may only have 1 of that name in your deck.
Its example, Gorganian Tome, is grouped there with Crucible of War's short printed Majestics. Read the icon, not just the card text.
The ladder has changed twice. That 2020 article announced the updated icons and replaced Super Rare with more Majestics starting from Crucible of War. Then Super Slam's page said "Super Rares are back".
Welcome to Rathe and Arcane Rising predate those icons, so they may not match the table above. A retailer's rarity guide, not the publisher, says Unlimited prints there have a coloured bubble behind the letter.
Not every card in a tier is equal. The same article says the publisher sometimes short prints on purpose, such as cards players need only one copy of.
Edition is separate again. FAB 2.0 ended the split between 1st Edition and Unlimited starting with Uprising, so that question only applies to older sets. The same retailer guide says a solid circle marked 1st Edition on Monarch and an open one Unlimited, and we did not confirm that on a publisher page.
Rare does not mean expensive
A rarity tier is not a price. The icon tells you the tier, and the tier tells you how often a card turns up.
A Common can appear in Cold Foil, and a Majestic can sit in a binder as a plain Regular. So sort by icon first, then by finish, then look the exact printing up.
We quote no card prices here. When you want a number, how much are my trading cards worth has the method, and our rarities explainer shows the same gap across games.
A quick check for any card
- Read the icon at the lower left.
- Read the code next to it, such as OMN014.
- Open the set's Collector Center page and find that code in Set Contents.
- See which print techniques it lists, then decide which one you hold.
- Check the condition guide before you price it, and how to spot fake trading cards if anything looks off.
For the rest of the small print, how to read a trading card walks through it.

FAQ
What is the rarest tier in Flesh and Blood?
Set pages list Fabled first and give it the fewest cards, 1 in Omens of the Third Age. Marvel odds vary by card, so the publisher gives no single rate.
Is a purple triangle a real rarity?
Yes. The publisher calls it the Marvel rarity symbol and uses it on high tier alternate versions.
What does Basic mean?
It is a line on the Omens breakdown, with 14 cards at 1.8 per pack. We found no page that defines it further, so check your card's entry on the set page.
Does Super Rare still exist?
Yes, in some sets. It left at Crucible of War in 2020 and came back for Super Slam in 2025 with 40 cards, while Omens lists none.
Are pull rates guaranteed?
No. The publisher says stated rates are averages across the whole production and may not appear in any given pack, display or case.
