How to Get Your Card Shop Found on Google (SEO for Card Shops)

Get a trading card shop found on Google: a clear name and description, priced cards, real photos, links that point at you, and a Business Profile for a store.

In this guide

Google primarily finds pages through links from pages it already crawled, and on a Foilio shop it reads two lines you shape yourself. The page title is built as "Shop name: TCG singles in City (games)", and the grey text under the link is your shop description, word for word. Leave the description empty and Google gets a stock line instead, for a Pokémon shop: "Pokémon singles for sale from (shop name). Message the seller directly, no fees, arranged by chat." Fill those two lines today, then spend your effort on links. Nobody can promise you a ranking, and Google says so itself.

What Google actually reads on a card shop page

Open the page source of Delin Collectibles, a working Foilio shop in Sofia. The page title, the line Google is offered for the blue link, is the shop name, the words "TCG singles" (in Bulgarian on this shop, "TCG сингли"), the city and the games or categories it carries. The meta description, the grey text under the link, is the short description the owner wrote for the shop, word for word. The page is marked for indexing.

Open a single card from that shop and the pattern repeats. Each card has its own page. Its title carries the card name, the card number, the price and the shop name, and its description adds the set, the condition, the price and where it ships from. The page also carries product data (name, price, condition) in the structured format search engines read.

Now compare a shop that skipped setup. With no city set, the title reads just "TCG singles (Pokémon)". With no description written, the meta description falls back to the same stock line every such shop gets: its games, "singles for sale from", the shop name, and "Message the seller directly, no fees, arranged by chat." Same platform, same frame, nothing of yours in it. A shop called "xX_Binder_Xx" with 300 unpriced cards gives Google very little to work with.

Set up a shop Google can understand: seven steps for today

  1. Name the shop for a human search. Your link becomes `foilio.net/shops/<name>`, and the name needs at least 3 Latin letters or numbers. A Cyrillic-only name will not save, so add a Latin word: "Ivan Cards Plovdiv" works, "Иван" alone does not.
  2. Answer the four setup questions: your games, how cards reach the buyer, who pays delivery, how you get paid. On the live shops, the games you pick end up in the page title.
  3. Set your city and write the description in two or three plain sentences: what you sell, which games, which city, how you ship. If you sell abroad, add one line in English.
  4. List cards with prices. Bulk upload takes a CSV or Excel file, even a Cardmarket stock export, up to 300 cards per upload. Only the card name is required, Foilio matches the pictures and fills only the prices you left empty, and your own prices are kept.
  5. Swap catalogue images for your own photos on the cards that matter. Each listing takes up to 8 photos, and your own earn the "Real photo" badge.
  6. Share the shop link everywhere your buyers already are (more on that below).
  7. If you have a physical store, create or claim a Google Business Profile and put your shop link in its website field.

The guide to opening a shop covers steps 1 to 3 in the product itself, and how to open an online trading card shop covers the decisions behind them.

Name and description: write the words people type

Nobody types "Dragon's Hoard" into Google unless they already know you. They type "One Piece singles Plovdiv" or "Riftbound cards Sofia". Put those words where Google reads them: in the name if they fit naturally, and in the description for sure.

Google's SEO Starter Guide describes a good title as unique, clear, concise and accurate about the page, and a good meta description as short, unique to that page and holding its most relevant points. On Foilio, the platform writes the title from your name, city and games, and your description becomes the meta description. So the description is the one piece of copy you fully control. Write it for a buyer scrolling results, not for a robot: a list of forty game names reads like spam to both.

Price every card you can

A card without a price shows "Ask", and unpriced cards do not appear in Foilio site search. "Ask" is also how a shop ends up in the 40-message "is this still available, how much, ok what about shipping" thread. A priced card's page carries the price in its title, so the buyer sees it before they click.

You do not need to research every common by hand. Foilio shows a Cardmarket reference trend next to every card you add, you type your own price, and buyers see how yours compares, for example "10% under market". The method for setting a price that sells is in how to price trading cards for sale.

Real photos: for buyers first, Google second

Google's image guidance says high-quality photos appeal to users more than blurry ones, that images should sit near relevant text, and that descriptive alt text matters while stuffing it with keywords does not help. A Foilio listing already puts the photo next to the card name, set and condition. Your job is the photo: sharp, well lit, the actual copy.

Catalogue images are fine for bulk, but they are the same picture every other seller has. A real photo of your €40 Showcase with its real corners is the one image on the web that only your shop has, and buyers trust it more. The photography guide shows a phone setup that works.

A new page with no links pointing at it is a shop on a street with no signs. Google's starter guide says it primarily finds pages through links from pages it already crawled, and it names word of mouth as one of the most effective and lasting ways to promote a site. For a card shop, that means:

  • the link in your Instagram and TikTok bio,
  • a pinned message in your Discord server, set up as in selling trading cards on Discord,
  • your posts in Facebook groups, with the shop link instead of 40 photos,
  • a small card in every parcel with the shop link printed on it,
  • the website field of your Google Business Profile.

Skip anyone selling link packages or "page one in 30 days". Google's own page on hiring help says: "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google." It also advises to find someone else when an SEO promises first place.

A physical store? Get a Google Business Profile

If you run a game store with a counter, a Google Business Profile is the free listing that appears on Maps and in local results. To qualify, a business must make in-person contact with customers during its stated hours, and online-only businesses are not eligible. A binder flipper selling from home does not qualify; a store with opening hours does.

  1. Check Google Maps for your store name and city. If a profile exists and is unclaimed, select "Claim this business", then "Manage now", and verify, as described in Add or claim your Business Profile.
  2. If there is none, start at business.google.com/add with "Add your business to Google", enter the details and verify.
  3. In the profile, add your website as a full URL starting with https://. Your Foilio shop link works here if you have no other site.
  4. Write the business description: what you sell, which games, events you run.

Local stores adding an online singles shelf will find the full playbook in online singles store for local game stores.

How to check whether Google has found you

Search `site:foilio.net/shops/yourname` on Google. Treat the result as a rough sign: Google says the site: operator does not necessarily return all indexed URLs, and the order of results means little.

Then wait. According to the starter guide, some changes take effect in a few hours and others take several months, and it suggests waiting a few weeks before judging if your work helped. Checking every morning will not speed it up; listing more priced cards might.

The Delin Collectibles shop is a useful model of a page set up this way: name, city, games and a real description, plus the Bulgarian delivery rules shown at the top (Inspect before paying, Cash or card, No declared value, Recipient pays delivery), so a buyer who lands from Google knows the terms before the first message.

FAQ

How long until my card shop shows up on Google?

There is no fixed time. Google says some changes show within a few hours and others take several months, so share your link and keep listing priced cards meanwhile.

Do I need my own website to be found on Google?

No. Foilio shop and card pages are marked for indexing, which you can see in the page source of any live shop. A separate domain can come later, if ever.

Can an online-only shop get a Google Business Profile?

No. Google lists online-only businesses as ineligible; a profile needs in-person contact with customers during stated hours.

Cards without a price show "Ask" and do not appear in Foilio site search. Add a price and they do.

Can Foilio guarantee my shop ranks on Google?

No, and nobody honest can. Foilio builds pages search engines can read; the name, description, prices, photos and links are yours to fill.

Should my description be in Bulgarian or English?

Write in the language your buyers search in. The Delin shop description is in Bulgarian with one English line for buyers abroad.
