Selling Cards in Facebook Groups: What Works and Where It Breaks

Facebook groups sell one card fast and break at a full binder. Pass the group rules, spot the common scams, and add one shop link under every post.

In this guide

The short version, in three steps: post your best five cards with a price, condition and your own photo (what most card group rules ask for), put one shop link at the bottom for the rest of the binder, and take every claim as an order there, so stock and orders live in one place instead of in comment threads. Do not leave the groups, they are where the local collectors are. And never post a card because of a payment screenshot: Meta's own advice is to "always check your account to confirm payment", even when the buyer sends a picture of the transfer.

Why group posts work for one card and fail at a binder

One card is easy. You post a photo of a One Piece Shanks alt art with a price, three people comment, the first one gets it, done before your coffee cools.

Now post a binder of 300 Dragon Ball Fusion World commons. Nobody reads a price list that long in a feed. Buyers comment "PM" on four cards, you edit the post to strike through the sold ones, and by evening the post is a crossword of strikethroughs. Someone asks "is this still available" about a card that went at lunch. Another buyer claims a card you already promised in Messenger. Some groups remove posts that turn into long edited lists, and the bump you hoped for never comes.

The group was never built to be a stock list. It is a noticeboard. Use it as one: a place to show the best cards and send people somewhere that keeps count.

The group rules you will meet

Every group sets its own rules, and the admins enforce them, so read the pinned post before your first listing. In card groups the same rules come up again and again. Here is how to pass each one without extra work.

Common ruleWhy admins have itHow a shop link helps
Price in the post, no "PM for price"Stops price fishing in privateEach card shows your price, and buyers see how it compares to the Cardmarket trend
Real photos of the actual cardStops stock-photo scamsUp to 8 photos per card, own photos earn a "Real photo" badge
Condition statedFewer arguments laterCodes M, NM, EX, GD, LP, PL, PO on every card
Limited bumpsKeeps the feed readableEdit the shop, not the post
Outside links only if allowedStops spamIf links are banned, post prices in the group and share the link only when a buyer asks

A price in the post is good practice anyway. In a Foilio shop, cards without a price show "Ask" and do not appear in site search, so the same habit that keeps admins happy also keeps your cards findable.

Meta's Commerce Policies describe commerce content as any attempt to buy, sell or trade products, and they apply to Meta's commerce services such as Marketplace. A group's own rules sit on top of that. When the two disagree with your plan, the admin wins.

This takes one evening to set up and saves you every evening after.

  1. Open a free shop. Sign in on Foilio, type a name, tap "Create my free shop", and the shop is live at once. The step by step guide to opening a shop covers the 4 setup questions: games, how cards reach the buyer, who pays delivery, and how you get paid.
  2. Upload the binder. Upload a CSV or Excel file with just the card names, or your Cardmarket stock export, up to 300 cards per upload. Foilio matches the pictures and fills in only the prices you left empty, and it keeps the prices you set.
  3. Write the group post the group's way. Lead with your best cards, each with price, condition and a real photo, exactly as the rules ask.
  4. Add the shop link at the bottom. One line: "The rest of the binder, with prices and stock: foilio.net/shops/<name>".
  5. Send commenters to the order button. When someone comments "mine", reply with the link and ask them to order there, so the claim lives on one order card with a time on it instead of in a comment thread. If the order is cancelled, the card goes straight back on sale.
  6. Bump with news, not with "bump". When you add new cards to the shop, write a fresh post about them, if the group allows it.

A post that passes most card-group rules looks like this:

``` WTS: Pokémon and One Piece singles Charizard ex SIR, NM, €<your price> Shanks alt art, NM, €<your price> Real photos, front and back Full list with prices and stock: foilio.net/shops/<name> Speedy across Bulgaria, inspect before paying ```
Scams in card groups, from the seller's side
Meta's Marketplace trust and safety page is written for Marketplace, but the same tricks turn up in buy and sell groups, and several of them target the seller, not the buyer.
ScamWhat it looks like in a card groupWhat to do
Fake paymentA screenshot of a transfer that never arrivedCheck your own account before you pack
Refund before paying"I overpaid, send back the difference"Meta warns that buyers may ask for refunds without having paid; refund nothing until the money is in
Phishing link"Confirm the sale on this page", asking you to log inMeta calls links that ask for your login or personal details an immediate red flag
Moving off Facebook fast"Text me on this number" in the first messageMeta lists early requests to switch to phone or email as a warning sign
Too-good priceA sealed One Piece box far under marketMeta says to be cautious of listings significantly underpriced compared to market value
The last one matters when you buy stock in groups to resell. As a seller, the first two are the ones that cost money. A screenshot is a picture, not a payment.
Cash on delivery with inspection, in Bulgaria
Inside Bulgaria, cash on delivery with Speedy takes the screenshot problem off the table, because the courier collects the money when the buyer collects the parcel. Set every parcel up the same way: the buyer can inspect the parcel before paying, pays cash or card, there is no declared value and no insurance fee, and the recipient pays delivery, so the cash on delivery amount is the cards only. In a Foilio shop a delivery option carries its price and can be marked "Cash on delivery" and "Inspect before paying". Buyers see those terms before they order, not in the twentieth message. Delin Collectibles in Sofia shows them at the top of the shop.
What Foilio does and does not do
Be clear with yourself about this. Foilio does not hold the money and is not a payment service: the buyer pays you directly, as agreed in the order chat, by cash on delivery, cash, card, Revolut or bank. What it gives you is one order card and one chat per order. You "Accept order", "Mark shipped" with tracking (or "Handed over, done" for a meetup), the buyer taps "Confirm delivered", and after an order is sent either side can tap "Report a problem". The chat keeps the full record with times, which is far easier to show an admin than a Messenger thread full of stickers.
Bumping without annoying the admins
Admins remove bump spam because members complain about it. A few habits keep you on their good side.
  • Post on the days the group allows, at the hour its members are online.
  • Change the cards in the post, not just the word "bump".
  • Mark sold cards in the post the same day, so nobody pings you for a card that is gone.
  • Answer questions in the comments in public. Other buyers read them, and it shows you are a real person.
Do this for a few weeks and the regulars start opening your shop link before the post finishes loading. That is the point where the group stops being your shop and becomes your shop window.
FAQ
Can I post my shop link in a Facebook card group?
Only if the group's rules allow outside links. If they do not, post the cards with prices in the group and share the link in a reply when a buyer asks for the rest of the binder.
How do I stop people asking "is this still available"?
Keep the stock in one place. When the shop shows what is left, you can answer every one of those questions with the same link.
Should I post a card when the buyer sends a payment screenshot?
No. Meta's advice is to check your own account to confirm payment, even when you are shown a screenshot. In Bulgaria, cash on delivery with inspection avoids the question.
What if a buyer says the card arrived damaged?
Ask for photos in the order chat and keep everything in that one chat, so the record has times. Inspect before paying on Speedy parcels in Bulgaria means the buyer sees the card before money changes hands.
Does Foilio charge sellers who come from Facebook groups?
No. Shops are free and there is no commission on sales. The buyer pays you directly.
