Selling Pokémon and Trading Cards on Vinted: Fees, Rules, Limits

Vinted charges sellers nothing and the buyer pays the Vinted fee. What you can list, how the buyer fee changes your price, and when a card shop beats it.

In this guide

List a Pokémon single at €20 on vinted.de and €20 lands in your Vinted Balance; the buyer sees about €21.70 before shipping, because the Vinted fee of usually 5% plus €0.70 sits on their side of the checkout. On a €2 common that same fixed €0.70 adds about a third to the price, which is the whole Vinted card strategy in one sentence: bundle the cheap stuff, sell mid-priced singles one by one. Before any of that, check one thing this guide could not confirm: whether Vinted serves your country.

What Vinted charges, and who pays it

The fee model is the opposite of Cardmarket. On Vinted the seller pays nothing per sale and the buyer pays a platform fee on top of your price.

FeeWho paysAmount
Listing an itemNobodyNo fee for uploading items

Vinted feeBuyer, at checkoutUsually 5% + €0.70 on vinted.de, usually 3% to 8% + £0.30 to £0.80 in the UK

The buyer fee used to be called the Buyer Protection fee. Vinted's help pages now call it the Vinted fee, a mandatory platform fee paid at checkout. Vinted says it varies with the item, the order value, and whether the buyer orders a single item or a bundle, so the "usually" matters.

What the buyer fee does to your price

The fee is invisible to you and very visible to the buyer, so price with their total in mind. At the usual vinted.de rate the €20 single from the top of this guide costs the buyer €20 plus €1.00 plus €0.70. On a €150 single the percentage part alone is €7.50, which is where a buyer starts comparing your listing with Cardmarket.

At the cheap end the fixed part decides everything. One "10 random holos for €8" lot carries the €0.70 once; ten €0.80 listings bought one by one carry it ten times.

What the fee pays for on the buyer side

Vinted says the fee helps cover the ongoing costs of running and improving the platform, and it supports its refund policy when an item from a non-professional seller is lost, damaged or significantly not as described. For a card seller, read that last part twice. "Significantly not as described" is where a buyer who expected Near Mint and got a whitened corner will go.

What trading cards you can list

Vinted's Hobbies and collectibles category has a Trading cards section that lists single trading cards, trading card lots, booster packs and boxes, card decks and uncut card sheets. Pokémon, One Piece, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh and Dragon Ball all fit under it.

The same help page has no special trading card rules on graded cards or condition. Under prohibited media it lists unauthorized reproductions, media reproduced without the copyright or intellectual property holder's consent, and it says Vinted will hide or remove listings that are not allowed. Proxies and fakes have no place there, which is also simply good selling.

Can you sell on Vinted from Bulgaria?

This guide does not answer yes or no, because we could not confirm it on an official page. Vinted's own careers page lists its launches year by year, with the latest named launch being Croatia, Greece and Ireland in 2024. Bulgaria is not among the launches it names.

If you sell from Bulgaria, check before you photograph a single card: open the Vinted app, try to register with your Bulgarian address and see whether your country is offered. If it is not, Vinted is not your channel for now, and the rest of this guide is about what to use instead. If you are in Romania, Greece or Croatia, Vinted lists your country among its launches.

How to sell trading cards on Vinted, step by step

For sellers in a country Vinted serves:

  1. Pick the right category. List under Hobbies and collectibles, Trading cards, and choose single, lot, booster or box. Vinted says it hides or removes listings that do not match a catalog category.
  2. Photograph front, back and corners. Vinted refunds buyers for items significantly not as described, so your photos are your defence. Our sibling guide on shipping trading cards safely in the EU covers the packing side.
  3. Write the condition in card language. Vinted's condition labels are made for clothes. Put the card grade (NM, EX, LP) in the title or first line of the description.
  4. Price for the buyer's total. The buyer pays your price plus the Vinted fee plus shipping. Check the Cardmarket trend, then decide whether your Vinted price should sit a little under it.
  5. Bundle the cheap stuff. Lots of 10, 50 or 100 commons beat single listings at €0.50.
  6. Pack like the card is worth double. A toploader that arrives as a pancake is a refund, not a sale.
  7. Move the money. Payment lands in your Vinted Balance once the sale completes.

Vinted vs Cardmarket vs your own shop

Each one is good at something different.

ChannelSeller pays per saleBuyer pays extraBest for
VintedNothingVinted fee, usually 5% + €0.70Lots, casual buyers, mid-priced singles
Cardmarket5% commissionShipping, trustee fee on tracked ordersNiche singles to buyers across Europe

Vinted shines with buyers who are not card people yet: the parent buying a Pokémon lot for a birthday, the returning collector browsing on a Sunday. Cardmarket shines with buyers hunting one exact printing. The full fee breakdown is in Cardmarket seller fees explained, and if you are thinking about buyers outside Europe, read selling trading cards on eBay from Europe.

When your own shop makes more sense

Two situations push sellers off Vinted. The first is price: on a €150 card, a buyer fee added on top of your price is real money to the buyer. The second is country: if Vinted does not serve yours, there is no listing to make.

Selling through chats, on Vinted or in Facebook groups, also hits the same wall: forty messages of "is this still available" and no single place that shows what is left. Our guide on selling trading cards in Facebook groups covers how to turn those threads into one link.

On Foilio the shop is free and Foilio takes no cut of your sales. There is no buyer fee either: the buyer pays you directly, by cash on delivery, cash, card, Revolut or bank transfer, whichever you offer, agreed in the order chat. You can list cards one by one or upload a CSV or Excel file of up to 300 cards, and each card shows a Cardmarket reference trend next to your price.

For buyers in Bulgaria shipped with Speedy, set up every parcel the same way: the buyer can inspect before paying, pays cash or card, no declared value and no insurance fee, and the recipient pays delivery, so the cash on delivery amount is the cards only. Speedy lists office to office at €2.69 up to 3 kg, and opening before paying is free with cash on delivery but not available for lockers, so send to an office or an address.

Foilio does not bring browsing buyers the way Vinted does, and it holds no money between you and the buyer. It is the home for the buyers you already have. See how a working shop looks at Delin Collectibles in Sofia, and follow how to open a shop to set up yours.

FAQ

Do sellers pay fees on Vinted?

Private sellers do not. Vinted says there are no fees for uploading your items or selling them, and you receive the full price in your Vinted Balance.

How much is the Vinted fee the buyer pays?

On vinted.de it is usually 5% + €0.70; in the UK usually 3% to 8% + £0.30 to £0.80. It varies with the item and order value.

Can I sell Pokémon booster boxes on Vinted?

Yes. Vinted's trading cards section includes booster packs and boxes, next to single cards, lots, decks and uncut sheets.

Is Vinted available in Bulgaria?

We could not confirm it on an official Vinted page. Vinted's list of launches names Croatia, Greece and Ireland as its 2024 launches and does not name Bulgaria, so check in the app with your own address.

Is Vinted or Cardmarket better for selling cards?

Vinted costs the seller nothing and suits lots and casual buyers. Cardmarket takes 5% from private sellers and suits collectors hunting specific printings across Europe.
