How to Value Riftbound Cards: Gem, Number and Treatment

To value a Riftbound card, read the gem, frame and collector number, spot alt art or Overnumber versions, then check sales of that exact card and language.

In this guide

A Riftbound card's value depends on which treatment you hold, and the gem and the collector number will tell you that. Read those two first, then look up sales of that exact version.

For what each tier tends to fetch, read are Riftbound cards worth money. This page shows you how to identify your own copy and price it.

Riftbound checks in order: gem, collector number, treatment, language, then sales

Read the gem and the frame

Riot's Origins collecting article gives the key for what it calls functional rarities. Check the frame and the gem at the bottom of the card together.

UncommonSilverTriangleOnly in the foil slot
RareGold, full artSquareAlways
EpicMinimal goldPentagonAlways
Alt artDifferent League skinHexagonIntricate foil

So a shiny Rare is not a special pull by itself. A foil Common or Uncommon, on the other hand, is a different line from the plain copy, so filter for it when you look it up.

That table describes Origins. Check the announcement for your own set if you hold something newer.

Read the collector number

In Origins the set is 298 cards, so Riot's example Poro Herder is 061/298. Anything numbered 299 and above is an Overnumber, and those are special versions of champion Legends.

The total changes with the set. TCGplayer lists Vendetta cards out of 166, where a signed Akali reads 189*/166.

Letters and symbols carry meaning too, though this part does not come from Riot. The League of Legends Wiki, a fan source, says alternate art adds an "a" to the number, and promos add a "b" or a P mark.

TCGplayer's numbers back up the "a", as in 030a/298. It also writes signed cards with an asterisk, as in 301*/298.

We saw that asterisk only in marketplace listings. Riot's article and the fan wiki describe a foil signature and do not mention one, so look for the signature on the card itself.

Match the treatment to its scarcity

Riot published rough rates for Origins. They help you judge what is worth a closer look.

  • Epic: about 1 in 4 booster packs.
  • Alt art: roughly 2 per box.
  • Overnumber: about one per three boxes.
  • Signature Overnumber: about one in ten Overnumbers.

Riot also says it will never reprint an Overnumber with the same art and frame. The card can come back with different art, though, so check the art before you trust a price.

Later sets have added more. The fan wiki describes an Ultimate tier as a subset of Overnumbers found in under 0.1% of packs.

Riot's own Card Gallery uses Showcase as a rarity label.

Do not forget the Rune slot. Riot says you may find foil Runes and, very rarely, a special alt art basic Rune.

Check language and condition

Riot's December 2025 press release names French as an official language alongside English and Simplified Chinese.

French Origins was set for 29 May 2026.

More may be out by now. A February 2026 release promises Traditional Chinese, and Wikipedia reports a Korean Origins for September 2026.

We found no single official list, so read your own card if it is none of those.

Price each language separately. A Chinese copy and an English copy are separate products, even when the art is identical.

Grade your copy under bright light, then use the site's own scale. Cardmarket uses M, NM, EX, GD, LP, PL and PO, and our condition guide explains each step.

Read a price, and doubt it a little

Here is one champion from the TCGCSV public file of TCGplayer figures, stamped 2 November 2026. The file does not state a condition.

Jinx, Loose CannonNumberMarket PriceLowest listing
Rare251/298$0.28$0.01
Overnumber301/298$124.16$90.00
Signature Overnumber301*/298$1,355.35$2,248.93

Two lessons sit in that table. The signature changes the figure by a huge margin, so check for it before anything else.

Next, look at the signed card's Market Price against its lowest listing. The cheapest offer in the file sits far above the sales figure, so neither number is a safe price, and you should find several real sales.

Alt art needs the same care, because the hexagon does not set a level. Jinx, Demolitionist 030a shows $3.33 in that file, while Kai'Sa, Survivor 039a shows $67.39.

Cardmarket's card pages sat behind a security check for us, so European readers should compare there themselves.

How young is this market?

Wikipedia dates Origins to August 2025 in China and 31 October 2025 in English. On the date of these figures, the English market was almost exactly one year old.

TCGplayer's file now lists four more main sets: Spiritforged in February 2026, Unleashed in May, Vendetta in July and Radiance in October. The newest have only weeks or months of sales behind them, so date your valuation and check again before you sell.

Sorting your Riftbound pile

  1. Check every collector number against the set total. Anything above it goes in a sleeve.
  2. Look for a signature on those cards.
  3. Pull the hexagon gems and any alt art Runes.
  4. Pull Epics and Rares, then sample them by sales.
  5. Keep commons in bulk unless they are foil and you have checked them.

Before you decide to grade anything, read is grading worth it. The all games method is in how much are my trading cards worth.

What people ask next

FAQ

What is an Overnumber?

It is a special version whose collector number sits above the set total. Riot says it does not count as part of that set for tournament legality.

Is my foil Rare worth extra?

Not for being foil. Riot says every Rare and Epic is foil, so the plain version does not exist for you to compare.

Are alt art cards rare?

Fairly. Riot gave roughly 2 per box in Origins, which is far more common than an Overnumber, so many of them are not expensive.

Is every signed card valuable?

Do not assume so. Look up sales of that exact signed version, because champion demand varies a lot.

Why do two sites show different prices?

They cover different buyers, currencies and listings. Compare the same version and condition, and give more weight to sales than to asking prices.
