Riftbound rarity, ranked: why the Showcase, not the Epic, is the chase
Riftbound, Riot’s League of Legends card game, is brand new, so what actually holds value? We took the market price of 1,139 cards across 9 sets and found the median for each rarity. The headline: the tier that sounds like the chase (“Epic”) isn’t, the alt-art Showcase is.
The Showcase is the chase, not the Epic
“Epic” is the rarest-sounding base rarity, but the median Epic is only $1.92. The alt-art Showcase tier trades at a median $29, about 15× an Epic and 137× the typical card; 24% clear $100. Champion Signature Showcases run into four figures, and the ceiling is an organized-play Ahri - Nine-Tailed Fox (Metal) prize card near $4,600. The value tracks champion popularity, not the rarity symbol.

Method & sources
- We pulled every priced Riftbound card (1,139 across 9 sets) via the open tcgcsv.com dataset (TCGplayer market price).
- Per card we used the Normal printing’s price, or the Foil price where that is the only one listed; then the median per rarity tier, robust to a few four-figure alt-arts.
- Riftbound is a young game and prices are volatile; treat these as a snapshot, not a fixed valuation.
- TCGplayer market price via the open tcgcsv.com dataset. Valued 2026-07-05. Reference estimates for raw cards, not sold or graded records. Reproducible from the open dataset.
FAQ
Are Riftbound Showcase cards worth money?
Yes — they are the chase. Showcase is Riftbound's alt-art treatment for champions, and across 1,139 cards the median Showcase trades at $29, about 137× the typical card (median $0.21). 24% of Showcases clear $100, and champion "Signature" Showcases (Ahri, Kai'Sa) run past $2,500.
Isn't the Epic rarity the most valuable?
No, and that's the surprise. "Epic" sounds like the top tier, but the median Epic is only $1.92 — the alt-art Showcase tier out-values it about 15×. Rarity name and price aren't the same axis: the value in Riftbound concentrates in the short-printed Showcase alt-arts of popular champions, not in the base "Epic" cards.
What is the most valuable Riftbound card?
The ceiling is a Ahri - Nine-Tailed Fox (Metal), an organized-play "Metal" prize card, around $4,600. Among pack-pullable cards, Ahri - Inquisitive (Signature) tops it near $2,664. Ahri and Kai'Sa Signatures dominate the top of the market, mirroring their popularity in League of Legends.
Where does this data come from, and is it reliable?
We took the TCGplayer market price of every Riftbound card (Normal printing, or Foil where that is the only price) via the open tcgcsv.com dataset, then the median per rarity tier (TCGplayer market price via the open tcgcsv.com dataset, valued 2026-07-05). These are reference estimates for raw cards, not sold or graded records, and this is a young game whose prices move fast. We never scrape marketplaces and never invent a number; the figures are reproducible from the open dataset.
