Value climbs through the alphabet soup to a thin apex: the ASR, SEC, SECV and 15thSP tiers, the special-art and anniversary printings of the game's iconic dragons. The whole game tops out around $850 with Dragheart, Luard in the ASR treatment, and a chase card runs about 213x the typical card. Below that apex, even triple-letter rarities stay affordable.
Why the apex is where it is
