The One Piece Rarity Ladder: what each card rarity is really worth
We took the market price of 2,174 One Piece cards across 14 booster expansions and found the median for each rarity. Two things stand out: the Secret Rare carries almost all the value, and the ladder isn’t clean, the Leader out-values the Super Rare.
The Secret Rare carries the set
A typical Secret Rare trades at $31, about 4.7× a Super Rare and 207× the typical card in a set (median $0.15). 39% of Secret Rares clear $100, and the chase alternate arts run into the thousands, a Monkey D. Luffy (Red alternate art) (OP13-118) tops the data around $8,490. Below that tier, almost everything is bulk.
Rarity isn’t a clean ladder: the Leader beats the Super Rare
“Super Rare” sounds scarcer than a Leader, but the median Leader ($9.34) out-values the median Super Rare ($6.66), about 1.4×. Every deck is built around exactly one Leader and plays it every single game, and popular Leaders get chased alternate arts, so demand piles onto them. Super Rares are normal pack hits, so supply keeps the typical one cheaper. Rarity and price aren’t the same axis.

Median market price by rarity tier, low to high.
Leader (L) sits above Super Rare (SR) on typical value despite not being the top rarity. Secret Rare (SEC) is the only tier that reliably carries real money.
Method & sources
- We pulled every card in every numbered OP- booster expansion (14 sets, 2,174 priced cards) via the open optcgapi.com API (TCGplayer market price).
- Per rarity tier we took the median price, robust to a few thousand-dollar alternate arts pulling the average up.
- Starter decks and promos are excluded, so the figures reflect what you actually pull from a booster.
- TCGplayer market price via the open optcgapi.com API. Valued 2026-07-05. Reference estimates for raw cards, not sold or graded records; prices move. Reproducible from the open API.
FAQ
Are One Piece Secret Rares (SEC) worth money?
Yes, they carry the set. Across 2,174 cards in 14 booster expansions, the median Secret Rare trades at $31 — about 4.7× a Super Rare and 207× the typical card (median $0.15). 39% of Secret Rares clear $100. Nearly all of a set's value sits in this one tier, plus the Leaders.
Why is the Leader worth more than the Super Rare?
Because rarity and demand aren't the same thing. A Leader (median $9.34) out-values a Super Rare (median $6.66), about 1.4×, even though "Super Rare" sounds scarcer. Every deck is built around exactly one Leader and plays it every game, and popular Leaders get chased alternate arts, so demand concentrates on them. Super Rares are printed as normal pack hits, so supply keeps their typical price lower. Rarity does not rank value linearly in One Piece.
What is the most valuable One Piece card?
In this data the ceiling is a Monkey D. Luffy (Red alternate art) (OP13-118, Carrying On His Will) at about $8,490 — an alternate-art Secret Rare. The chase alternate arts of popular characters (Luffy, Ace, Sabo) sit far above the typical Secret Rare; the median SEC ($31) is what a normal one is worth.
Where does this data come from, and is it reliable?
We took the TCGplayer market price of every card in every numbered "OP-" booster expansion via the open optcgapi.com API, then the median price per rarity tier (TCGplayer market price via the open optcgapi.com API, valued 2026-07-05). Starter decks and promos are excluded so it reflects pack-pulled product. These are reference estimates for raw cards, not sold or graded records, and prices move. We never scrape marketplaces and never invent a number; the figures are reproducible from the open API.
