The Final Fantasy TCG: rarity barely predicts value, the treatment does

We priced 5,208 Final Fantasy TCG singles across 38 sets. The rarity stamp turns out to be one of the worst predictors of price in the hobby.

$1,168
the priciest card, a "Hero" (not a Legend)
$568
a signed 'Rare' — above almost every Legend
74%
of cards trade under $1 (mostly bulk)

Treatment beats rarity

The rarity ladder is nearly flat: Common $0.11, Rare $0.18, Hero $0.33, Legend $2.94. Yet the #1 card in the game is a Hero (Yuna Signature, $1,168), and a signed Rare Yuna ($568) outsells nearly every Legend. The value lives in the Full Art / Signature / signed treatments of popular characters, which appear inside several rarity tiers, so the rarity symbol tells you almost nothing.

Rarity vs ceiling

Median (typical) is flat, but the max inside each tier is where the treatments hide.

FAQ

What is the most valuable Final Fantasy TCG card?

A Yuna (Signature) at around $1,168 — and notably it is a "Hero", not a "Legend" (the fancier-sounding rarity). The top of the market is all Full Art, Signature and signed treatments: Yuffie Full Art (~$800), Terra Full Art Signature (~$672), and a signed Rare Yuna (~$568) that outsells nearly every Legend.

Does rarity predict a Final Fantasy TCG card's price?

Barely. The rarity ladder is nearly flat: Common medians $0.11, Rare $0.18, Hero $0.33, Legend $2.94. But each tier has four-figure ceilings inside it (Hero max $1,168, Rare max $568), because value is driven by the special TREATMENT — Full Art, Signature, autographed — not the rarity stamp.

Are Final Fantasy TCG cards worth money?

Most are not. The median single is $0.22 and 74% trade under $1 — one of the higher bulk shares in the hobby. The money is concentrated in the short-run premium treatments of popular characters (Yuna, Tifa, Cloud, Terra).

Where does this data come from, and is it reliable?

We took the TCGplayer market price of every priced Final Fantasy TCG single (sealed product excluded by name) across 38 sets via the open tcgcsv.com dataset, then the median and max per rarity tier (TCGplayer market price via the open tcgcsv.com dataset, valued 2026-07-05). These are reference estimates for raw cards, not sold or graded records; prices move. Reproducible from the open dataset.
