The Digimon Rarity Ladder: what each rarity is worth, and where the $1,900 cards hide

We took the market price of 8,487 Digimon Card Game singles across 100 sets and found the median and ceiling for each rarity. The game is mostly bulk, and the ladder has a real twist at the top.

$1,913
the priciest single (a textured Secret Rare)
324×
the chase multiple (top 1% vs the typical card)
62%
of cards trade under $1 (mostly bulk)

The chase hides in the “Rare Pull” finish, not the rarity label

By typical value the highest tier is Special Rare (the SP full-arts), a median $121. But the single most valuable cards are all in the Secret Rare tier, which has a modest $7.98 median yet a $1,913 ceiling. The gap is the finish: the textured, foil “Rare Pull” and X Antibody alternate arts of fan favorites (WarGreymon, Omnimon, MetalGarurumon) are short-printed and run into four figures. The rarity symbol tells you less than whether the card is a textured Rare Pull.

FAQ

Are Digimon Card Game cards worth money?

Most are not. Across 8,487 priced singles the median card is $0.44 and 62% trade under $1. The value is concentrated in the top rarity tiers: "Special Rare" (the SP full-art cards) runs a median $121, and the top single in the game, a WarGreymon (Rare Pull), sells for around $1,913.

What is the rarest and most valuable Digimon card?

By typical value the "Special Rare" (SP) tier is highest at a median $121. But the single most valuable cards are all textured "Rare Pull" and "X Antibody" Secret Rares — WarGreymon (Rare Pull) ($1,913), MetalGarurumon Rare Pull (~$1,500), and BeelStarmon X Antibody Textured (~$1,450). Those alt-art Secret Rares are the game's true chase.

Why is the Secret Rare tier so cheap on average but so expensive at the top?

Because "Secret Rare" mixes two very different things. The regular Secret Rares are common enough that the tier's median is only $7.98, but the same tier holds the textured, foil "Rare Pull" alternate arts of fan-favorite Digimon (WarGreymon, Omnimon), which are short-printed and run into four figures — hence a $8 median but a $1,913 ceiling. The rarity label alone does not tell you the value; the finish (textured / Rare Pull) does.

Where does this data come from, and is it reliable?

We took the TCGplayer market price of every priced Digimon single (sealed product excluded by name) across all 100 sets via the open tcgcsv.com dataset, then the median and max per rarity tier (TCGplayer market price via the open tcgcsv.com dataset, valued 2026-07-05). These are reference estimates for raw cards, not sold or graded records, and prices move. We never scrape marketplaces and never invent a number; the figures are reproducible from the open dataset.
