MetaZoo was one of 2021's most hyped TCGs. Here's what the cards are worth now
MetaZoo — the cryptozoology-themed TCG built on Mothman, Bigfoot and the Piasa Bird — rode one of the biggest secondary-market frenzies in modern trading-card history. We measured the aftermath from open price data: 1,431 priced singles across 42 sets.
What a post-hype price curve looks like
This study doesn’t try to explain the market — it measures it. And the shape is striking: 81% of all MetaZoo cards trade under $1, the median is $0.25, and the single most valuable card in the entire game tops out at ~$75. Value survives only in a thin band of Gold-tier cryptids; everything else has settled to bulk. It’s a clean reference point for what happens to a TCG price curve after the speculative wave passes.
Bronze, Silver, Gold — a flat metal ladder
Bronze and Silver are effectively the same price; only Gold moves.

| Silvermid tier | $0.19 | $6.00 | 289 |

Method & sources
- We pulled every priced MetaZoo single (1,431 across 42 sets) via the open tcgcsv.com dataset (TCGplayer market price).
- We take the median and max per metal tier (Bronze/Silver/Gold) and the share of cards under $1. Sealed product is excluded so the numbers reflect singles.
- TCGplayer market price via the open tcgcsv.com dataset. Valued 2026-07-05. This is a descriptive snapshot, not a market forecast — reference estimates for raw cards, not sold or graded records; prices move. Reproducible from the open dataset.
FAQ
What is the most valuable MetaZoo card?
A Gold Piasa Bird at around $75, followed by a Gold Green Goblin (~$60) and Gold Mothman (~$40). Every card at the top of the game is a Gold-tier cryptid or paranormal card, and none clears ~$75 — a modest ceiling given how much the game once traded for.
Are MetaZoo cards worth anything now?
Most are not. Across 1,431 priced singles the median card is $0.25 and 81% trade under $1 — one of the highest bulk shares of any game we've measured. Value survives only in a thin band of Gold-tier chase cards; Bronze and Silver cards are almost all sub-$1.
What are Bronze, Silver and Gold in MetaZoo?
They are MetaZoo's metal-tier rarity system. In price terms the ladder is unusually flat: Bronze medians $0.18 and Silver $0.19 — effectively identical — while only Gold (median $0.50) carries any premium, and even that comes almost entirely from a handful of chase cards rather than the tier as a whole.
Why did MetaZoo prices fall?
This study doesn't try to explain the market — it measures it. What the data shows is a game that now sits at a $0.25 median with 81% of cards under $1 and a ~$75 ceiling, a very different shape from a game with a live speculative market. It's a useful reference point for what a post-hype TCG price curve looks like.
Where does this data come from, and is it reliable?
We took the TCGplayer market price of every priced MetaZoo single (sealed product excluded) across 42 sets via the open tcgcsv.com dataset, then the median and max per metal tier (TCGplayer market price via the open tcgcsv.com dataset, valued 2026-07-05). Reference estimates for raw cards, not sold or graded records; prices move. Reproducible from the open dataset.
