The Eeveelution Index: which Eeveelution is worth the most?

Eight evolutions, one Eevee — and one of the most-collected families in Pokémon. Same rarity tiers, same release cadence, so which Eeveelution actually holds value? We took the median trend price of every printing of all eight. The order is clear, and Umbreon runs away with it.

All eight share the same rarity tiers and release cadence, yet the typical Umbreon trades at about 6.3× the typical Eeveelution. The gap isn't rarity — it's demand.

Note the twist: Espeon owns the single priciest Eeveelution card (its €5,791 vintage Gold Star, just above Umbreon's €4,990), yet Umbreon still wins on the typical card. These vintage Gold Star prices are thin and illiquid — indicative, not liquid market depth — which is exactly why the ranking uses the median.

FAQ

Which Eeveelution is worth the most?

Umbreon, by a wide margin. Across all 44 Umbreon printings (40 with a market price), the median Cardmarket EUR trend price is €62 — about 2.8× the next Eeveelution (Espeon, €22) and 10.9× the cheapest (Leafeon, €5.68). We use the median, not the average, so one vintage chase card can't crown a Pokémon — and 30% of Umbreon printings still trade at €100 or more.

Why is Umbreon so much more valuable?

It is the collector favorite, and demand stacks across eras — from the vintage POP Series 5 Gold Star (the single priciest Umbreon printing) to the modern "Moonbreon" (the Umbreon VMAX alt art from Evolving Skies). Same rarity tiers as its siblings, far higher demand. That gap is brand, not scarcity — the order holds whether you look at typical value or the chase ceiling.

But doesn't Espeon have the single most expensive card?

Yes — Espeon's POP Series 5 Gold Star is the priciest single Eeveelution card on record (~€5,791), edging Umbreon's (~€4,990). Yet Espeon ranks only #2 by typical value (€22 median). That is exactly why we rank by the median: one illiquid vintage card shouldn't decide which Pokémon is "worth more" card-for-card.

Where does this data come from, and is it reliable?

We pulled every printing of each Eeveelution and its Cardmarket EUR trend price via the open pokemontcg.io API, then took the median per name (Cardmarket EUR trend price, via the open pokemontcg.io API, valued 2026-06-24). These are reference estimates, not sold records, and trend prices move. Vintage Gold Star prices are thin and illiquid, so we treat them as indicative and lead with the robust median. We never scrape marketplaces and never invent a number — the figures are reproducible from the open API.
